Geomagnetic References

Herein are links to our geomagnetic reference data base in Papyrus format. The list contains also a few references besides geomagnetism such as atmospheric ozone and other areas of geophysics and planetary science. They are yet incomplete with a number of errors, but I find the present, which number over 10,000, useful in their present form. It is being continuously improved and we plan to periodically update the files on the system. Although started as a compilation of those reprints in my office, we found it more convenient to ask a few of the prolific authors for lists and were able to import them. Our first contribution was a large database file from David Barraclough. We are grateful to the many later contributors, now too numerous to list. Of course we do not have the resources to keep updating with all possible references. The main deficiency is that we have not properly categorized them according to topic, although some of those imported already had such categories attached and some were retained.

This is being made available in this form until a better one is found. At this time in order to obtain and use the database you need to download and unpack the files below including the program and its documentation provided free by Research Software Design. They are the originators of the program Papyrus, which is available in DOS for PCs and a more advanced form for Apples. With their program you may add, edit, or list references, search with various criteria (e.g. author, year, title strings, journal...) and output to your screen or a file in various formats.

We welcome any corrections or additions provided those are in some consistent format that can be imported easily into the database. For example, as you can see on the RSD web site, there is a program that allows bibtex import. Please direct comments and corrections to Jen Kennedy.
